DRUGS, 1967

Submitted by: Committee of Management

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled views with apprehension the increase in the taking of both addictive and non-addictive drugs in this country and notes with concern the consequent disastrous physical and psychological effects. The Council particularly deplores the propaganda aimed at the removal o f Cannabis from the list of dangerous drugs. The Council therefore urges her Majesty’s Government to:– a. intensify its efforts to educate public opinion on the dangers of  drug taking; b. maintain and strengthen, where necessary, existing legislation for  the control of addictive and non-addictive drugs; and c. to accelerate its programme for the establishment and staffing of  more treatment centres for those who have become addicted.  Reaffirmed 1984
