At the beginning of 2020, NCWGB Management Committee talked about a Luncheon to celebrate the 125th Anniversary when COVID and the pandemic hit the world forcing a delay and putting the idea on hold.
We had received a donation from the estate of Muriel Lillian Julius, one of our members with the request that “in memory of many years of happy friendship, a portion of the money is used for a luncheon in Muriel’s memory and the balance for general charitable purposes”.
What a great opportunity to jointly celebrate 125 years at an anniversary luncheon and remember Muriel at the same time.
A joyous occasion it was as well! The event held at the Nottingham Gateway-Hilton was for most, the first opportunity to renew friendships after two years of isolation.
The President, Elsie Leadley, and her Vice Presidents, Gillian Weston and Penny Bennett, greeted guests before enjoying a three course meal with refreshments. A toast was given to Muriel with gratitude.
Following the meal, we heard from Past Presidents, some in person – others in writing, remembering achievements during each of their leaderships. Members of Management Committee then offered a taster of things to come moving NCWGB into the future.
Everyone enjoyed the time spent together to celebrate 125 (+2 years) since the foundation of NCWGB and looked forward to meeting again soon.
