We are delighted that Bushra Ahmed, who is a member of NCW and on our management committee, has been recommended for a national diversity award.

Bushra is an experienced charity sector leader, named by Charity Times as one of the 15 most inspiring leaders to look out for on #IWD2022 and voted in 2022 as one of the top ten most influential fundraisers by Civil Society’s Fundraising magazine.

She is a Trustee of Lloyds Bank Foundation, HomeStartUK and sits on other national and local civil sector boards, including the National Council of Women of GB, 50:50 Parliament and the Survivors Advisory Forum at National Emergencies Trust.

Bushra founded West Croydon Voice, after her family business was destroyed in the 2011 Riots, to successfully fight for millions of pounds of compensation for the victims.

She is a business woman, strategic consultant, campaigner and activist, with over 20 years of experience in community engagement, with expertise through lived experience in community organising, building resilience and achieving transformational change. This work led to her being picked as a Civic Futures Fellow for the GLA in 2021.

We wish Bushra all the luck when the awards are announced in September, we will keep you updated!
