Alternative work opportunities, 2012

Submitted by: NCW Hereford Branch

The National Council of Women, in conference assembled, urges Her Majesty’s Government to ensure that older employees can have the option to work part time, on a pro rata salary. In so doing, an opportunity can be created for a younger person to be employed, trained and mentored. This resolution has many wider implications, both social and economic such as the following:

(a) creating more employment for younger people;
(b) creating a part time work opportunity that meets the needs of older employees;
(c) improved well being and quality of life for both women and men;
(d) increase of respect between generations;
(e) Government could gain if people are employed; transference of skills and experience.
