Submitted by: Social Welfare Special Committee

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, draws the attention of Her Majesty’s Government to the recommendations of the Williams Report Caring for People dealing with the staffing of all Residential Homes and prepared at the request of the National Council of Social Service.  The National Council of Women urges the implementation of the recommendations of this Report concerning improved methods of recruitment and training, and the establishment of better conditions of pay and an adequate career structure which is essential if sufficient women and men of the right calibre are to be found for this exacting work. It further urges that a National Training Body should be established to foster training developments, to set standards and encourage research.
