The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, recognizing the importance of ensuring that new industrial development schemes should lead to unacceptable levels of atmospheric pollution and noting report No 5 of the Royal Commission of Environmental Pollution, recommends that the Government should lay down Air Quality Control Guidelines to define acceptable concentrations of specified pollutants; these to act as guides to planning authorities when determining planning applications, with provision for adding to the list of pollutants and for amending concentrations in the light of more recent knowledge.
