Screening for foetal abnormality, 1978

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, urges the Secretary of State for Health and Social Security to make available throughout the United Kingdom facilities for the voluntary screening of expectant mothers in order to determine if the unborn child has a serious abnormality such as spina bifida or Down’s Syndrome (Mongolism).   

Reaffirmed 1983.   Affiliated Societies dissociated from this Resolution:  National Board of Catholic Women, Union of Catholic Mothers, Catholic Women’s League, and National Council of Catholic Women’s League (Scotland).
