National Council of Women GB and Signhealth met last week to agree joint plans for the New Year. First will be a workshop or panel with majority deaf women setting out priorities on domestic violence issues. This will feed into Parliamentary discussions.

We also discussed how to make deaf women feel entirely welcomed into NCW membership and events. Our AGM featured all day BSL interpretation and going forward we will make more use of signed videos on our website – Signhealth explained that for many deaf people BSL is their first language and English their second.

Photo shows (L-R and T-B) – Gillian Weston (NCW Vice President Finance), Ann Davison (NCW President), Sara Rashid (Coordinator), Gail Bishop (NCW Vice President Current Affairs), Kirsty Jade and Abigail Gorman (Signhealth).
