We are delighted to welcome Professor Salma Abbasi as an Ambassador to the National Council of Women of Great Britain.
Professor Abbasi brings decades of distinguished global leadership experience at the intersection of technology, policy, and social impact. Her longstanding work with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been instrumental in advancing the global agenda on online safety for children, ensuring that the digital environment is safer, more accountable, and more inclusive for younger generations.
Her contributions extend deeply into critical areas of addiction awareness, mental health, and digital wellbeing, particularly in recognising the profound societal impacts of AI, social media and toxic games on individuals and communities. She has consistently championed approaches that balance innovation with human dignity and care.
Equally, Professor Abbasi has been a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, skills development, and economic inclusion and cross border trade, supporting pathways that enable women not only to participate in the digital economy but to lead within it. Her work reflects a broader commitment to strengthening peace, cohesion, and unity within communities through education, opportunity, and equitable access to technology.
At a time of rapid global transformation, her insight and leadership will be invaluable in supporting the National Council of Women of Great Britain as it advances its strategic objectives across the UK and beyond.
We are honoured that Professor Abbasi has chosen to dedicate her time and expertise to this important cause. Her appointment marks a significant step forward in our shared mission to champion equality, resilience, and sustainable social progress.
We warmly welcome her to the National Council of Women of Great Britain and look forward to working closely with her in the journey ahead.
