National Council of Women GB network 18-30 member Emily Frewin, President, Ann Davison and Doris Bingley of the Maltese NCW represented the Commonwealth Women’s Network at the Commonwealth Foundation’s consultation on climate on Thursday.
Ann highlighted the importance of supporting nature to mitigate climate change, the challenges of balancing economic and climate action and the role of online disinformation and divisiveness in undermining climate action. Emily referred to limited public awareness and the need for youth dialogue including to engage universities. Ann also reported NCWGB’s work on trafficking of women and girls. Climate change increased risks of displacement and therefore trafficking. Women farmers need better access to investment in climate mitigation.
