Digital safety is in crisis. This was the message Ann Davison, President of the National Council of Women GB and member of the core group of the Commonwealth Women’s Network gave the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Shirley Botchwey last week.
Commonwealth Women’s Network has three priorities, she said. These are climate, digital safety, and health. The online environment is beset with violent content, misogyny, extreme pornography, child abuse, and disinformation. Ann called on the commonwealth as largely customers rather than owners of online platforms to act.
