It was great for some of National Council of Women’s 18-30 group to meet in person at the Centenary Action event on Tuesday. This brought together young women from NCWGB, Girlguiding, UN Women and young women’s trust to talk with MPs and Peers about the experience of being in politics.
The NCW young women and President Ann Davison spoke about online harms and the need for safety by design. We described NCWGB’s work with other women’s organisations to approach this as a public health and consumer and not just technical issue. We also told of NCW’s international networking to share any best practice from the U.K. with other countries and to learn from them via the International Council of Women.
The young women were inspired to hear from international activists working to empower the most vulnerable of women and girls including with literacy programmes.
