Priya Suseela, Gillian Weston (Vice President) and Ann Davison (President), represented National Council of Women GB at a meeting with UN Women last Thursday.
Ann stressed that women’s organisations strongly supported the UN’s democratic and humanitarian values, including equality and of course equality for women and girls. The movement had been involved in establishing UN Women and strongly supported the retention of a reformed but still independent UN Women organisation – to defend the rights of half the population – who still suffer multiple disadvantages.
Priya spoke about the opportunity to make strong representations at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in March. NCWGB is sending 6 in person representatives.
This year’s CSW reinforces a shared commitment to advancing justice, accountability, and inclusive participation for women and girls worldwide.
UN women was represented by Lopa Banajee, head of its civil society division. Many thanks to @ukcswa for organising the event.
