The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, concerned at the increased amount of sexual and physical violence now present in books, television, videos and magazines and bearing in mind that this is now spreading to electronic media such as computer games, strongly recommends that the Government should: (a) review existing laws and urgently introduce legislation which would make illegal the promotion of violence or degradation through any medium of communication;(b) encourage the European Parliament to adopt such legislation.
