Current scientific research on biorhythms has shown that sleep is compromised by working out of hours, for example on night shift, and sleep is important for health. The National Council of Women urges Her Majesty’s Government, the Chief Scientific Officer and the Department of Trade and Industry to encourage further research in this field to discover the possible deleterious effects of irregular working hours on health.
