Control of arms trade, 1991

Submitted by: ICW Committee GB

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, mindful of the continued suffering being caused to humanity in many parts of the world by armed conflict, and the role of the international arms trade in encouraging and prolonging warfare, calls upon Her Majesty’s Government to seek, through the United Nations and other agencies, international control of the production and the sale of arms and to encourage conversion of armaments factories to peaceful uses while maintaining an adequate supply of arms for national defence.
