Equal Moral Standards, 1959

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, reaffirms its belief in the equal moral responsibility of men and women and in the equality of all citizens before the law. The National Council of Women deplores the passing of the Clause 1 of the Street Offences Act 1959, because it contravenes both these principles. The National Council of Women therefore calls upon its members and Affiliated Societies to avail themselves of every opportunity for bringing before the public, the necessity for persistent action towards the establishment of an equal and higher moral standard and also the amendment at the earliest possible date, of the law in accordance with its underlying principles of justice and equity.
