The National Council of Women, concerned at the closure of increasing numbers of care, residential and nursing homes and the resultant bed blocking in hospitals, urges Her Majesty’s Government: (a) to include ‘personal’ care in ‘nursing’ care, thus enabling local authorities to increase funding per person; and (b) to give financial assistance to enable existing homes to reach the new mandatory standards in facilities and to meet the rising costs of minimum wages and National Insurance.
