Food additives and other harmful substances, 1960

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, urges that all substances added to foods to assist in manufacturing processes to aid preservation or to give visual appeal, shall be subjected to adequate toxicity and biological tests carried out under authorised conditions. Further, that similar tests should be made on household necessities such as cleansing agents and on fabric dyes. Detailed results of all such tests whether satisfactory or otherwise, should be made freely available in government or other publications.
