The National Council of Women of Great Britain in Conference assembled, in view of the Government’s declared policy of encouraging Housing Associations, urges the Secretary of State for the Environment to make available Low-Interest Rate mortgages for the purchase of property by non-profit making Housing Associations (even those who receive welfare and/or hostel grants) for the accommodation of elderly people, thereby relieving the strain on Local Authority accommodation, keeping geriatric beds for the genuine sick and freeing houses for families.
