Immigration detention centres, 1991

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, draws attention to the recent reports on private sector involvement in Immigration Detention Centres, calls upon Her Majesty’s Government for assurances that the Criminal Justice Act 1991 for the privatisation of parts of the prison service will include a requirement for full public accountability and that provision will be made for the setting up of a multi-racial Board of Visitors and visits by the Prison Inspectorate to Immigration Detention Centres.
