Killing under provocation, 1992

Submitted by: Social Welfare Special Committee

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled expresses concern at disparities in sentencing between men and women convicted of killing a spouse or partner after grave provocation, and asks the Lord Chancellor to revise the test of Killing Under Provocation (as defined in the Homicide Act 1957 section 3) in order to give weight to the cumulative effect over a period of time of intolerable acts, words or behaviour.

Reaffirmed 1995, 1997
