The National Council of Women in Conference assembled welcomes many of the proposals in the recent Green Paper on Childcare, but conscious of the vulnerability of young children, the importance of early childhood experience and the public’s concern over children’s safety, urges HMG to ensure: (a) careful selection of candidates; (b) high standards of training; (c) adequate monitoring of carers’ performance when trained.
