The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, calls upon Her Majesty’s Government to incorporate in the forthcoming Criminal Justice Bill the intentions expressed in the White Paper “Crime, Justice and Protecting the Public” (CM965 Feb 1990) for the increased use of non-custodial sentences as a viable alternative to prison for non-violent offenders of both sexes; and to promote the additional community-based alternatives needed for women.
