Practical food education: its place in the national curriculum, 2000

The National Council of Women calls upon the Secretary of State for Education and

Employment to: (a) ensure that all children are educated in nutrition and food preparation at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 by encouraging schools to increase the time commitment for the study of food within the Design and Technology Curriculum; and (b) reinstate food as a compulsory field of study at the next opportunity for review of the National Curriculum.
