The National Council of Women in conference assembled: concerned that Lord Chancellor’s proposals for Divorce Law Reform fail to address the needs and interests of the children involved, calls upon him to remedy this by: (a) introducing child-based advice at the Compulsory Initial Interview as well as providing referral addresses in the Information Pack; (b) encouraging steps to be taken with regard to children “˜s welfare during the period for consideration and reflection; and (c) placing a duty on the Court to satisfy itself with regard to all proposals relating to the children of the marriage at the Preliminary Court Assessment.
