Restrictions of obscene publications, 1961

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, welcomes the fact that successful prosecutions have been brought under the Obscene Publications Act 1959, but deplores the increasing pornographic emphasis of certain cheap illustrated magazines which are exposed for sale. The National Council of Women urges the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Courts to take firmer action to implement the Act by establishing a stricter standard in regard to pornographic matter.   Held in abeyance as from the Annual General Meeting in 1988.
