The economical use of waste land, 1972

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, urges the Secretary of state for the Environment to make an immediate appraisal of all waste land within and around every city and town in the country lying inside the inner perimeter of the ‘Green Belt’, with a view to encouraging its economical use forthwith for house building for the elderly and homeless and reducing the expense and burden for all those whose work necessitates travelling daily to the city or town centre.   Reaffirmed 1980
