The effect of natural disasters on women and children, 2005

(or ‘A 1325 for Natural Disasters’)

Recognising that the effect of natural disasters can be comparable with wartime and post-conflict situations and noting the extraordinary vulnerability of women and children in the aftermath of natural disasters, the National Council of Women calls upon HM Government to consult with the European Union and the United Nations Organisation in order to set up mechanisms to assist in overcoming these difficulties, similar to the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which relates to problems encountered by women in war and post-conflict situations.
