Unit packaging, 1972

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, urges the Department of Trade and Industry to use its powers set out in Section 21 of the Weights and Measures Act 1963, to require that, subject to agreed exemptions, foods, drinks and dry goods shall, if pre-packed, be only offered for sale in agreed standard units of weight or capacity, the quantity of goods being specified on the package, unless the price per unit of weight or capacity is marked on the package.
