The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, whilst welcoming the regulations introduced in October 1980 as evidence of intention to decrease fire hazards implicit in the materials used in upholstered furniture, urges HM Government: a. to advance the date of the prohibition of the sale of upholstered furniture which fails the smouldering cigarette test and to include in the prohibition upholstered furniture which fails the naked flame test, and b. to enlarge the scope of the regulations to include furniture designed or intended for use wholly or mainly as a bed.
