The National Council of Women in Conference assembled welcomes the World Plan of Action which was agreed at the Inter-Governmental Conference held in Mexico City in International Women’s Year 1975, and resolves to endeavour to further its objectives. One important objective is “Recognition of the economic value of women’s work in the home in domestic food production and marketing and voluntary activities not remunerated”. The Council has previously urged such recognition, has requested that the economic value of women’s work in the home be included in the calculation of the Gross National Product and hereby reaffirms its policy to ensure that Her Majesty’s Government duly recognizes the economic and social value of women’s work in the home.
