SATURDAY 11TH OCTOBER, 2025

NCWGB were delighted to welcome you to its Autumn Event and AGM at the Bannatyne Hotel, Darlington. This is a Hybrid event with attendance in-person or by Zoom.

The programme

In our wide-ranging programme, we debated three vitally important resolutions, electing our management committee and reviewing NCWGB’s work in the past year. The programme ended with a speaker panel addressing the issue of violence against women. Our panel included Meena Lawar Hosham, a refugee who fled a totalitarian regime; Professor Anica Zeyen, Royal Holloway University of London who explored the particular issues faced by women who are disabled; and Eleanor Lyons, Anti-Slavery Commissioner for the UK.

Welcoming deaf participants

This year, as part of our policy to widen accessibility to our events, we were delighted to welcome our deaf colleagues. The whole meeting was BSL interpreted and there was a hearing loop available.

The venue

The Bannatyne Hotel is easily accessible by train and car. It is a short taxi ride from the railway station. There is a car park although spaces are limited, further parking is available nearby.

Registration for the day began at 10.15am and our President opened the event at 10.45am promptly.
