White Ribbon, together with NCWGB, Soroptimist and Business and Professional Women UK held an exciting event on what men can do about violence against women on Monday 8 December at 12 noon.
We were delighted to announce our first joint webinar with White Ribbon, the leading charity working with men to end violence against women and girls. We heard on video from three men who speak up for women and girls and have dedicated their lives to this work: Dr Michael Flood, Michael Kaufman and Jackson Katz. They have come together from across the globe in Australia, Canada and the United States.
Michael Kaufman is the co-founder of the White Ribbon campaign in Canada and the start of the global White Ribbon movement. Dr Jackson Katz is the author of Every Man and a pioneer in the movement to prevent violence against women and girls and Professor Michael Flood is one of the world’s leading researchers on how to effectively engage men and boys in the prevention of violence against women.
In the video, they discussed how far the movement in engaging men and boys to prevent violence against women has come, the challenges that remain, and what men must do now to help achieve true equality in the future. Our President, Ann Davison, chatted to Lynne Elliot, CEO of White Ribbon UK about the conversation and the work, and a Q and A with the audience followed.
