Commission on the Status of Women Report Back

Welcome to our online event where the National Council of Women will report back on key learnings from the March meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women. Topics will include access to justice, violence against women and girls, female genital mutilation, intergenerational cooperation and online harms.

Dr Natalie Turney, NCWGB

Natalie is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Reading and a national Law Teacher of the Year 2024 long-listee. She is a published author on women’s rights, access to justice, and corporate, insurance, and criminal law.

She presents at high-profile events on this range of legal issues, including at the Palace of Westminster and at The Women’s Parliament. Natalie actively engages in national and international policy discussions on women’s and girls’ access to justice, as Vice-Chair of the UK Civil Society Women’s Alliance (UKCSWA).

Georgia Rayner, NCWGB

Georgia is a Public Sector Transformation Consultant, specialising in People & Change programmes in central government.    Since becoming a member of NCW in 2016, this is her second time at CSW.  Prior to starting her career, she studied Social and Political Sciences at the University of York and it was her experience at CSW in 2019 which inspired her dissertation on conflict-related sexual violence.

A community safety professional and gender justice advocate, deeply committed to safeguarding and empowering women and girls.  She is dedicated to both the VAWG and PREVENT agenda which she says are increasingly overlapping due to the inherently misogynistic and racist development of AI.
