We are thrilled to share that the Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing (OEWG) is currently exploring ways to enhance the protection of older persons’ rights, including the potential creation of a human rights convention. To address this crucial issue, the British Society of Gerontology’s Human Rights and Social Care Forum, in partnership with Age International and the Institute of Gerontology at King’s College London, is organising a hybrid networking conference.
The conference aims to provide updates on the OEWG’s progress regarding a UN convention on the rights of older persons, while also evaluating the current legal and policy framework for older people’s human rights in the UK and Europe. The event will feature guest speakers who will explore topics such as human rights, disability and ageing, and human rights in health and social care.
The proposed outcome is to strengthen networks, foster new collaborations, and generate innovative research ideas and activities that will reinforce the human rights of older individuals in the UK and worldwide. Don’t miss this critical discussion on the rights of older people!
This hybrid event offers the option of in-person attendance for up to 50 individuals or online participation for everyone and will take place at:
